I have actually purchased an ad on Naked Hits myself so that I can have a better understanding or how things will work for you while using the ad network. I have been using this network for a couple years to let other people advertise here and I have also advertised on other web sites for Naked Hits. This is the first time I have tried advertising on my own web site so we will see how that turns out. I am using a very select demographic so it will be interesting to see what happens for the ad campaign. I am targeting females specifically ages 18- 34 and my bid is $5.00 per 1,000 impressions (CPM ad). I will let you know what I find out with my experiment.

Ok so it has been a partial day so far and like I mentioned this ad that I am trying out is for a very specific target audience which really limits how many times per day it will appear. So far the stats are as follows... there has been 1 click so far and 38 impressions. I had placed a maximum bid of $5.00 per 1,000 impressions. 

As things stand right now the click through rate is at 2.632%. The current auction stats show that at this time I would actually end up paying about $.52 for my 1,000 impressions! So far for the 1 click and 38 impressions the ad has cost a whole $.02!

The thing you need to know is no matter your bid amount you will eventually get traffic. The main thing that changes is how fast you want to get your traffic. If an advertiser isn't happy with the number of impressions their ad is getting they can increase their bid and the traffic will begin to increase as well. It is also a good idea to try different variations of your ad. Some ads will perform really well and some won't. Take your time to collect enough data about your ad's performance to analyze how your ads are doing. That way you can figure out what works and what doesn't and adjust your ad campaign accordingly. 

Ad update (as of right now) 47 impressions from my specific target audience and one click has cost me $.02. This ad has still been running less than 24 hours.

I would recommend using the ad network on your own so that you can easily track your ad stats but if you would rather not deal with it I can do it all for you too. All you need to do is tell me the maximum amount you are willing to spend per 1,000 impressions and send me the $ for the ad on paypal and email me your banner graphic. I will set it all up and keep you informed of the stats. I thought I would offer that as another option.

Ok now I have changed the banner I am using for the ad campaign. I think this one will do MUCH better. It is a WAYYYY more attractive ad. In case you are wondering I am targeting females for this ad in the United States ages 18-34. I know that this is not the main audience here on the site so that is why even though my maximum bid of $5 per 1,000 impressions is fairly high this is a group of people that is fairly under represented here on Naked Hits. Someone that had a bigger target audience say for men or for both male and female viewers should probably be seeing a lot more happening with their ad stats that I am with this one. I plan to test that out in the future also. 

The first ad that I put up was something I threw together in less than a minute just to get things going. The ad I made to replace it looks very nice and professional and I am expecting to get more clicks on it. The number of impressions probably won't change so much but we will see what happens. The ad stats are four hours behind and so far they are showing 0 impressions for the day but it is still early. If I do not see the impressions I want to see I may increase my bid and see how much of a difference that will make. As of right now the previous banner is showing a modest 58 impressions and 1 click and even though that is a lot less that I would like to see it has still only cost $.03 to run the ad so far. The number of impressions would increase obviously when more girls show up to the site. 

Girls show up when they see other girls posting stuff. It was that way before. Now that I am more able to participate on the site I think more girls will join in. I have seen it happen that way before. At one time there were over a dozen girls actively participating on the site. So guys if you want to help me out here with my research project send messages and talk to all of the member girls you can and hopefully they will come back again and do their thing. Girls should keep posting.. the more the merrier. You might think of other girls as competition but the reality is the more girls we have the better it is for you because it actually greatly increases the number of male members on the site. 

That is the update for now. I am excited to see how things go with the new banner. I know that if I saw it I would want to click on it. Maybe I am biased but it looks pretty freaking awesome! Hehe there is only one of the girls here that knows which ad I am talking about and as far as I know she has not even seen it yet. I know it has not shown up for me and I am not sure if that is because the ad network knows not to show it to me by IP address or because they don't know what the heck demographic category I fit into because I browse and look at EVERYTHING online so there is no way for them to know. I get to see all kinds of ads from gay men to lesbians and cross dressers along with all of the mainstream porn ads.

Ok umm I still haven't gotten any impressions today according to the stats. I have changed my max bid to $10.00 per 1,000 impressions to see if that helps things along.

Okay I have something interesting I would like to add which is a little aggravating but wow I am soooooo glad I have been doing this experiment! I wasn't sure why even with a big bid why I wasn't getting any impressions when I know for a fact there are girls on the site. Someone else must be beating me for the space. I am not 100% sure at this point but it seems that CPC ads may be reserved for network ads and anybody that wished to advertise directly on Naked Hits may have to make a CPM bid. That would work out fine but what I think is happening is that the network ads are getting priority over the ads purchased specifically for Naked Hits. That is TOTALLY stupid!!!

As far as I am concerned I want to help out the people that I actually get to network with not strangers that I have never met before! There was a while that I was not allowing text ads on the leaderboard banner on the site. This is the ad zone that I have this test ad running in. I logged into my account and had a look at things from the other side of the spectrum and had a look at which ads were getting the most impressions vs the number of clicks and everything else. I was stunned to see that no matter how much I am bidding for this banner ad that the CPC text ads are getting thousands and thousands of impressions at a time yet nobody clicks on them at all! There was 1 text ad out of all of them that has been getting clicked on and it is foreign so I don't even know what it is for!

Quite honesty I really didn't want text ads in my leaderboard. I don't think they look very nice and usually say obnoxious things. In theory what is supposed to happen is that the more in demand Naked Hits becomes the more advertisers want to place ads and they out bid each other and the value of the ad space goes up. The ad network is supposed to be set up so that they show the ad that has the potential to make the web site owner the most money. They recommend allowing all ads automatically on the site. My ad revenue has done nothing but plummet since allowing these ads and they are doing nothing but taking space away from the people that matter to me. Needless to say I will be removing all of the CPC text ads that have not been clicked over the past month which is pretty much all of them and I will not be allowing more. I think that after I rid the world of this evil then Naked Hits will be a much happier place for the people that I care about. I am expecting things to change a whole bunch once they are gone. I will let you know if this is correct and what happens from here. 

So I have gone through all of the ads for this ad zone. I am pretty sure that all ads that are CPC are network ads. Since I have learned that a person that wishes to advertise on Naked Hits only has the option to pay CPM rates I am also removing ALL CPC banner ads for the time being. Like I said in the post above I care about the people that have a genuine interest in Naked Hits. I think that this change will make the playing field more even for the people that really matter. Oh and by the way I was incorrect when I said that you can get 1,000 impressions for $.06. It is actually as low as $.05.

OMFG! This post was the best idea I ever had with my advertising set up. The ad networks can be so hard to figure out! I just noticed that after 2 years of doing things WRONG what the problem is. This is so insane. I feel so stupid but it never made sense until now why things weren't improving. I have been unknowingly showing the network ads and actually rejecting the people that were TRYING to advertise on Naked Hits. I feel so cheated. I am so glad I found this out now. I had been considering doing away with the ad network for a while now. I finally know what the problem is. WOW WOW WOW I don't believe this! I really wish the ad network's web site would have been more clear. I also just wrote them with a question about why my stats are showing incorrectly. My page view and daily unique visitors seems correct but if you try and sign up to get an ad it says the available inventory of impressions is 0. wtf... anyway I hope they have a good answer and solution for me. Again I say let's see what happens but I think I have actually figured out this insane 2 year mystery.

I am still in shock. If I rejected anybody's ad I am so sorry! The ad network had me so incredibly confused on what was what. I feel like it was not spelled out clearly before. Wow. Ok well I guess now that I know we can move forward. I also found out something that I did not know before. Any advertiser that wishes to advertise on Naked Hits CAN and WILL be able to place a text ad that will be a CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) they will still be subject to approval. I do have to say my aim is to keep the site as classy as possible so I tend to stay away with most vulgar or obscene ads. Just use good judgement and we should be fine.

You sure have been through a rough ride with these advertisers. I would think it would be to their benefit to make sure you (their customers) have a clear and SIMPLE instruction set from which to work. I am thinking that they would have made more revenue from you over the last two years had you been informed how to place the ads in the first place. Of course, that would also mean YOU would have had increased revenue.
