Spring is here, everything is blooming and growing, I could spend hours just walking through the garden. I love planting things, watching them grow, bloom and dream.
One of my most favorite things to do in the summer is a tea party with my friends, to mix and match all my old teacups. make sweet yummy things to eat!
When tea is served to friends, in a lovely corner of the yard, I think something enchanting happens, one it steps us back in time to being a little girl, there is laughter, and in the dappled sunlight, at a table set with my favorite china, and the delicate confections, and tea sandwiches, affections are renewed.
To transform a weekend afternoon into a tea party for the women you admire most in your life. Begin with inspiration from the garden. Set the scene with fragrant branches of lilacs and any of those favorite china's you keep up, floral print napkins are a must hee hee silver teaspoons and a dash of pastel-colored sugar all add a touch or fun and excitment to any afternoon. Fanciful, intimate and simple to prepare, a tea party is a party like no other. I hope you all get to enjoy at least one through out your summer!
*WINK* and guys and girls in celebration of mothers day, and really any special women in your life, host an outdoor tea party in your own backyard!
READY FOR SOME TIPS?
MENU IDEAS! Served with tea, finger foods, tea sandwiches, bite sized cookies, and tiny tarts, if you dont make them yourself, any of these are easy to find on a store shelf. AND they also minimize the need for dishes :) to ease preperations, here is some store ideas, fill store bought tartlet shells with fresh conserves. From a bakery buy petite fours!!
THE FLOWERS! Extravagant blooms, such as garden roses, lupines, peonies, and lilacs, set the scene, do lush arrangements in pitchers filled with flowers from your own garden, or market ;) ohh and of course you will want floral-printed table liners and for a winsome welcome, hang a tote brimming with flowers at the party entrance!
THE TABLE! For ease and eclectic style mix your teacups and tea pots. Combine finds from thrift, antique shops and yard sales *which I also love doing in the summer* or even borrow a few pieces from your mother. Present mismatched teaspoons in a vintage sugar bowl, choose floral printed paper napkins, or heck make your own from a remnant of cotton fabric and pinking shears, no sewing needed !!! AND give each guest a tea cup and their napkin to take home for a party favor!
THE TEAS!! Treat guest to teas they love and some that they may have not tried....some to think about are rose, citrus, vanilla's, organic, go to a store shelf and have some fun! Include a traditional blend. Set out milk, honey and sugar in cubes or mix pastel colors!
AND do not forget to have a dress code lol.... REVIVE GIRLHOOD, DO NOT SKIP PRETTY SKIRTS AND DRESSES, and join on once loved lawn games!*croquest anyone ????

Here we are on a beautiful spring day, after storms it has cooled down. I am going to have some dinner and relax a few before heading online for a few to enjoy visiting.
I love sharing beautiful things with everyone. Life is so full of so many things....as I walked in, I noticed so many things blooming, spring flowering trees seem to really start the season, I think every yard needs them; the dogwood, magnolias, redbuds, crabapples..so beautiful as I walked through the yard, as I opened my gate with its flower box full of pansies and ivys; I noticed that my whisteria was full of big gorgeous blooms, the blooming season is so short for them, only a couple weeks, and you will not see them again till next year; but they make me smile and then the beautiful vines make a bed over the arbor entering the back door, and its a sweet shaded place for other beautiful flowers that shy from the sun to grow throughout the summer.
I spend part of my weekends, especially in the spring, planting and dividing and multiplying more plants, so many plants allow you to dig up and share them in other parts of the garden, so take a moment if you have gardens to divide up those perennials and enjoy them in every corner of your yard. Some of my favs to do this with are clematis, they will send little starts all over the place, so mixed in most of my arbors are those joyful flowering vines, hostas; they are great for borders around everything..same goes for the japanese forest grass, it will spread all over, lavender, lambs ear, meadow clary, lilys, my goodness you can just have a ball in a garden on dividing your plants. Ohh and then enjoy laying in a bed of flowers with nothing but the sunshine on you!
I honestly love to landscape, and I seem to have so many projects each summer...I will try to post some before and after pics this summer of just how far my gardens and home have come since moving in many years ago. I know that someday I will be moving, I want a 2 story cottage instead of a one story hee hee, but I will make sure to take tons of my flowers to share in my new gardens; I have enjoyed so much making my gardens here a place you can step out and be in a dream...it will be fun to start on a new place. I love to make a backyard that feels like a vacation destination the moment you walk out the door, a getaway from the world. If I am into seeing what is going on, I sit on the screened in porch and watch the world around me while pookie barks at every little critter that hops from the wilderness through the field.
I Hope everyone has a beautiful Easter weekend planned and that it goes just wonderful, I have some family coming in, but I am going to spend of course some time in the yard, placing some mulch and trimming a few pines i believe on saturday, doing a few odds and ends, before theh bunny comes *giggles*
I will post some sweet ideas and fun tips along with love throughout the spring and summer...I hope you all enjoy the outdoors as much as me, and enjoy the little tips....I enjoyed sharing so many Chrismtas things this year...might as well take it throughout the year.

It's the people we have beside us in life, that are truly what matters. *friends* They are there to comfort and bring you some peace when so much is going on; when you feel like you might snap at any moment; a friend is there to listen to what's bothering you and understand when you need a shoulder to cry on. Friends are our family too, if not in blood they are in our hearts. It was more than luck or biology that brought you together, and you'll need more than those in life to keep you together...faith and forgiveness, kindness and cooperation, laughter and love---these will preserve the precious bonds between you. In life an unforgiving heart is the most bitter thing in the world. So hearts need to be opened, loved and cared for and a friend is one who will understand that. Make a friend, don't abuse it or waste it, never ignore it or take advantage of it, never invade it or try to outrun it, respect it-it is precious.
The supreme happiness in life is the conviction that we are loved...to know someone cares about you. To live today in such a way that when tomorrow comes, the memories of yesterday will all be the cherished ones; and when you are full of love, kindness and forgiveness, you can love deeper and richer---and it isn't necessary to understand things in order to beleive in them.
When you are feeling bleak, ever notice how something as simple as a stranger's smile can act as a single ray of hope to light your way?
